U.S. Supreme Court Decisions Affect Public Schools

Recent decisions of the United States Supreme Court will have important implications for educational institutions in Vermont.

In one case, the Court determined that parents may represent their children in federal court in an appeal under the IDEIA without the assistance of an attorney. This decision resolves a conflict among different lower federal courts on this issue.

The Court also ruled on free speech/First Amendment issues in public schools.

These decisions will be separately discussed in greater detail in the Recent Developments page in the coming days.
